A fantastic game of cricket today by Coleshill and a warm welcome by Walmley and the weather. The last few weeks have been a right pain due to rain but today the sun gazed down upon the beautiful pitch.
Coleshill won the toss, as done by the Skipper Asam Shezad, and decided to bat first. A brilliant start by the opening batsmen as Asam went off after making his century. Great footwork and concentration on the ball and spectacular boundaries. It was a fun game to watch
Aaron was also an amazing batsman with smart manoeuvres around the ball and playing well timed shots and executing some fabulous shots consistently throughout the game. He had great pace running between the wickets and managed to hold his ground for 58 balls making an astonishing 41 runs from the opening bowlers.
Straight after came David Brown who made a whooping score of 46 off 47 balls. Again he managed to handle the games well and use the pitch to his advantage playing superb shots. Extra credit to David for helping out with the scoring alongside Eesa. Junaid Ali also had strong batting and managed to stay till the end of the innings with Sheragha.
After a very hot and tiring innings, it was now time for the most dreadful part of the game; standing in the scorching heat as the sun blazes down on you without a single cloud in the sky. Sheregha opened the bowling and took an astonishing 3 wickets (one of which the opposition had 2 chances) and bowled at a consistent pace which allowed him to get into a good rhythm and giving away only 10 runs off 5 overs. Sadly Sheregha had to be taken off early due to an injury.
Due to his injury, Aaron yet again came to save the day by taking over his remaining overs and taking two very important wickets and giving away a wicket maiden. Aaron bowled consistently well and fielded very well too, definitely hindering the oppositions chance to get a high score.
A big thank you to Hasan Malik for filling in the team on such short notice and playing with great investment into the game. He bowled 4 overs in which only 16 runs went by and his length as well as pace was amazing for such a pitch. He played very well and took the match winning catch on Mohsins over. I think we all need to thank him for attending the game and also playing so well.
Eesa had bowled 2 good overs and had good flight on the ball. He was also turning the ball very well. Great gameplay.
Mohsin bowled extremely well, in 5 overs taking 3 wickets and only giving 16 runs. He denied the oppositions access to a big score and also destroyed batting partnerships which put more pressure on the opposition. He also fielded very well and Mohsin, as a team i think we owe you an apology for running such long distances across that pitch in such heat. Its a good workout though so maybe it wasn't that bad
Next was me, the star player (Abdul). Considering i have an injured foot and ran out of water before the second innings, i say i played pretty decent. I withheld many boundaries and bowled 3 overs at the end after standing for hours in that sun. I also did umpiring for the first 10 overs and the resistance i had to not put the finger up when the opposition appealed was extremely high.
Overall the game was a brilliant experience and i believe that the team played very well. There are some improvements that could be made such as the fielding but other than that, the game was a fun time and the match was enjoyable to watch and play. Again a big thanks to Hasan for joining in so late and to Eesa for scoring for all 40 overs. Scoring can be very annoying at times so thanks to Eesa for doing all 40 overs.
